The Ultimate Pairing – Devoto Ciders with Bodega Bay Oysters

Gypsy Café’s CIDER BAR SERIES 2014 continues with

The Next Generation of West County Farmers

an informal evening at the Gypsy Cafe

5:30 to 7 free tasting w/ fresh-shucked oysters sold by the shell

Jolie Devoto (photo above) will be pouring while Whit Strain will be shucking.  We might even see the shy young chef Martin Maigaard sneak out of the Gypsy’s kitchen to chat with his compatriots and the public and offer tastes from the kitchen…

what is the future of farm to table in West County?…how important is lifestyle and legacy – how long does it take to grow an apple tree or an oyster?  how do you shuck oysters, how do you make kickin’ chile sauce or go about fermenting…?

Connect with the hands-on grassroots culinary folks who are insuring West County ‘s legacy for the next generation.

Their stories are works in progress –

the Devoto/Wades’ much-publicized quest  to keep alive the coveted apple crop in Sonoma County with artisan ciders

the Strains (Martin, 2nd generation + Whit, 3rd) – with their new market are taking the next generation of aquatic farmer to the public

the Maigaards – by staking out a homestead in West County, this husband and wife team put their all into the Gypsy – and into their growing family
